ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- This week's 7Everyday Hero, Ruth Warrington, figured out a long time ago that volunteering can do wonders for your well-being.So if you're looking for bargains, you've got to check out the "Neighborly Thrift Shop" in downtown Englewood. It's got racks of good clothing, and everything from baskets, to birdhouses, to books.Ruth has volunteered here every week since 1982 -- often working double shifts. She is a former school teacher, so children are important to her. The program works with kids in Littleton and Denver and help them in an after-school program.
The shop benefits "Neighborly Services," a faith-based community outreach program. Ruth is 94 years young.A hard worker and a frequent donor, Ruth is known to give financially as well. Her secret to a long and happy life? Volunteering. She's there every Monday.
