FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- When we select our 7Everyday Heroes, we look for people who not only go above and beyond, but who also volunteer a lot. This week’s 7Everyday Hero, Nettie Clear, has been giving back to the community for more than twenty-five years. For the last forty-five years, the “Work Day Ladies” have gathered twice a week to provide lasting comfort for others. They make thousands of items a year at the “Christ Center Community Church” of Fort Collins. Some are large, and others are small, but all the hand-made items comfort those in need. They make quilts, comforts and baby layettes that are usually given out for those who come in for food and clothing.
One volunteer in particular knows well the value of a gift from the heart. Nettie Clear is ninety-three years young and she’s the heart and soul of this volunteer group. Nettie is never sick and she always has a smile on her face. Nettie says it isn’t so much the work, but the joy and association with the friends she’s met.
