DENVER -- If you’re doing some home renovations, this week’s 7Everyday Hero can show you how to save money. Phil Bucher deconstructs old homes so you can spruce up yours.Using a saws-all to tear apart a house is every guy’s dream. After thirty years in the computer business, Phil Bucher is chipping away at area homes to help Habitat For Humanity.Phil goes to a deconstruction project, where a home slated to be demolished is stripped of usable items – things like light fixtures, water heaters – even the kitchen sink.
They all go to Habitat For Humanity’s two outlet stores. This can save you money and help the environment, which helps Habitat For Humanity help more people.Last year their two outlet stores generated more than $1million in profits. It allows every donation received to go directly to their home ownership program.Phil gave over forty Saturdays just last year alone. He said yes when they need him the most. Phil said that spiritually, it’s a great way to give back to the community. To learn more about Habitat for Humanity and the outlet stores, click here.
