DENVER -- There are many tributes and monuments to the brave men and women who serve our country in the military. But Denver has gone many years without a park dedicated to our veterans. This week’s 7Everyday hero, John Perich, changed that. There is a slice of land at I-25 and University that used to be just a lonely ballfield – it was called no-name park. So Korean War veteran John Perich got an idea. He spent more than 2 years gathering signatures and he got city approval to name the area “Veterans Park”. John felt something was needed to honor all the people who have served our country.
Today, “Veterans Park” has a monument to all those who have served their country – complete with a proud American Flag. All of this thanks to veteran and 7Everyday Hero John Perich.
