DENVER -- Finding affordable health care can be a challenge, especially in tough economic times. But this week's 7Everyday Hero is helping provide a solution. The Inner City Health Center has been reaching out to the under-served in Denver for 25 years. The clinic serves 300 people a month --many with jobs, who just can't afford health insurance. What makes the system work, is volunteers. The volunteers are people like Doctor Larry Purcell.
After retiring from private practice four years ago, he started volunteering at the clinic. The clients are very appreciative; It's one of the reasons Doctor Purcell calls his volunteering an "opportunity." His family isn't surprised. They say he's always been service minded and he's admired by many.
