GREELEY, Colo. -- "What's for dinner?"It's a question echoed in every household, just about every night. But for some, there would be no hot meal at all without some outside help. That's where this week's 7Everyday Hero steps in.
Harriet Monsees is 88 years young. She's been volunteering at Meals On Wheels of Greeley and Weld County for a dozen years.Drivers for the county travel about 74,000 miles last year and deliver anywhere in the area, everyday of the week. That's a comfort for those getting the meals.Last year, there were 361 instances where the program had a recipient living alone who had fallen or needed medical attention. That's another example of how volunteers like Harriet not only deliver clients their meals, but also provide them with some independence and peace of mind.
